Destiny, do I believe in it? I do now!
2025 has turned out to be an amazing year. There I was pootling along happily building the Cornish Authors Bookshop collection and organising Fringe Book Festivals with The Writers Collective, when I was approached by some friends to think aboout taking over from the amazing Paul Taylor-McCartney at the helm of Hermitage Press.
With my background in publishing and training as a designer, the move into the role made complete sense, and so the handover began. I had been stocking the complete range of Hermitage publications in my little niche bookshop for a few years and had been a great admirer of the Press and its ambition to bring Cornish Writers voices kicking and screaming into the light.
And I couldn’t have had a better start to my new role in the company, as the short story anthology ‘Twelve Stories for Twelve Sections’, produced in collaboration with Cornwall National Landscape, twelve incredible Cornish authors and illustrator James Innerdale, was crowned winner of the Literary Fiction category at this year’s Holyer an Gof Publishers awards!
